K-Pop Boy Band BTS Dominates Billboard Music Awards Social Media Posts

NEW YORK —- While Janet Jackson brought down the house during last night’s Billboard Music Awards, K-pop boy band BTS owned the social media buzz for the night.

In fact, while BTS had 2.9 million mentions in the last 24 hours, Jackson had only 43.1K mentions and finished out of the “top five” celebrities being mentioned, according to international social media analytics firm Talkwalker.

Two trending hashtags around BTS, #iVoteBTSBBMAs and #BTS_BBMAs, were used 2 million and 1.6 million times, respectively.

Overall, there were more than 11.8 million mentions of the BMAs over the last 24 hours, Talkwalker reported, which was down compared to last year, which yielded 19.5 million posts in the same 24 hour span of time.
