JASRAC honors Hoshino Gen with a “2018 JASRAC Award” for “Koi”

Hoshino Gen has received another major accomplishment in his music career and that is being recognized with a “2018 JASRAC AWARD”.

The award is indeed an honor as Hoshino’s “Koi” went viral thanks to the drama “Nigeru wa Haji da ga Yaku ni Tatsu” which was the theme song and also starred Hoshino.

The ending theme dance was so popular that people all over the world learned the dance and posted it on YouTube (Note: After a year, the label decided to ban all dance videos featuring the song on YouTube, so unfortunately they are no longer available).

“Koi” was released in October 2016 and while 400,000 CD’s were sold, the song would be downloaded over 2 million times via digital.  In addition, the music video has exceeded over 175 million views.  And the popularity also extended to karaoke.
