“Nikkan Gendai” interviews Leah Dizon, 12 years after her debut in Japan

Back in the early to mid-2000s, Leah Dizon was known for being one of the recognized car models.

Born and raised in Las Vegas, Dizon moved to Los Angeles to major in film, while working as a model.

So, popular that in one year, Leah Dizon’s name received 2 million Google hits and a lot of her viewers were from China and Japan.

Hearing from Japanese fans that she should try to get work in Japan, she sent demo tapes to Victor Entertainment and signed to a recording contact.

By 2006, she released several photobook and “Petite Amie” was the third best-selling photobook for 2006 and 2007.

In 2007, she made her musical debut with her third single “L-O-V-EU” reaching #7 on the Oricon Weekly Charts.  Her song “Could you be that one?” was featured for the Playstation 3 “Ninja Gaiden Sigma” TV CM and she released her album “Destiny Line” and more singles and another album in 2008.

Dizon would date her stylist that she met while shooting her music video for her first single “love Paradox” and that she was three months pregnant.

She gave birth to her daughter Mila in 2009 with hopes to return back to entertainment in 2010, instead she announced that she and her husband had separated and filed for divorce.

Looking to raise her daughter, Dizon attended the Stella Adler Studio of Acting in New York City and graduated in 2012.

In an interview 12 years after her debut, Leah Dizon (31) has been under-the-radar and “Nikkan Gendai” interviewed her to see how life is going.

Dizon told the publication that she lives a bit far from Las Vegas, now living in a peaceful suburb but a nice area to raise children but the temperature rises to 45C (113F) and that it is hotter there than Japan durig the summer.

She also decided to attend college again and she is going on her fourth year at Nevada State University Las Vegas studying social psychology.

It was her goal to study at a university for a long time and she wanted to learn more of “Why women are undervalued?”.  She is studying the causes of women who are active in various industries, from science, technology and engineering and a lot of research is involved.

Dizon said it is hard to balance parenting and studies, so she gets up early, prepares breakfast and takes Mira to school.  Picks her up at the end of her classes and finishes making dinner.

Dizon said after graduating, she wants to go on to graduate school and continue her research.

Dizon also said that while research is difficult, she is learning more, she is helping her life and sees the world in a whole different sight and that her horizons have expanded”.

As for the past, when she made her debut in Japa, she talked about how she had to watch what she ate, because she was busy, she had to keep her figure, so her memories back then living in Japan was always being hungry.

She was also asked about when she made the announcement of her pregnancy, did she panic or feel lost?  And Dizon explained that she was confused because things became complicated”.

When asked about her divorce, Dizon said it’s been a long time, so she doesn’t remember those times all that well, but she is much happier now.
