Tanimura Nana and boxer Ioka Kazuto divorce, Tanimura to study in the United States for six months

It has been speculated for months that singer Tanimura Nana and boxer Ioka Kazuto were headed for divorce.

And now, the two have released a statement that they have officially divorced.

After the statement went public and Tanimura wrote that her new life has begun, she followed up with photos of her at the airport that she will be studying abroad in the United States for six months.

Back in 2007, Tanimura Nana was came in second place for an idol audition and she and the first place competitor would receive recording contracts, Tanimura would be signed to Avex’s sub-label, Sonic Groove.

Having lived in Hawaii and Los Angeles, Tanimura was marketed for her Western sense but also for her body, so marketing promotions were of her as a sexy R&B singer.

But behind-the-scenes, Tanimura was in law school and graduated from Aoyama Gakuin University Law School in 2010.

In 2016, she began dating professional boxer Ioka Kazuto and in May 2017, the two were married in Hawaii.

But Japanese media is reporting that their marriage went stagnant earlier this spring and the two decided to file for divorce.

While Tanimura is no longer affiliated with an agency or label, she has been taking voice lessons and because she is fluent in both English and Japanese, media have reported that she may possibly work overseas.
