Kashiwagi Yukiko returns to Paris where she and her late husband celebrated their honeymoon

Kashiwagi Yukiko, the wife of the late Sakamoto Kyu, visited Paris for the first time in ten years.

48-years-ago, Kashiwagi and Sakamoto celebrated their honeymoon in Paris.

Kashiwagi shared photos on her blog of her and Sakamoto when they went to Paris and shared photos of her revisiting the locations that she and Sakamoto celebrated.

Sakamoto Kyu will be remembered for his International hit song “Ue o Muite Aruko” (a.k.a. “Sukiyaki”) which sold over 13 million copies back in 1961 and in June 1963, it reached #1  in the United States Billboard Hot 100, making Sakamoto the first Asian recording artist to have a number one song on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.

Sakamoto and Kashiwagi would have two daughters, Hanako and Maiko.

On August 12, 1985, Sakamoto Kyu was on Japan Airlines Flight 123 which was to fly from Tokyo’s Haneda Airport to Osaka International Airport.  Sakamoto was to perform at an event in Osaka.

The Boeing 747SR suffered a sudden decompression 12 minutes into the flight and crashed in the area of Mount Takamagahara, Ueno, Gunma Prefecture. The accident became the deadliest single aircraft accident in history.

520 people of 524 people lost their lives in the accident.  Sakamoto was among those who were killed in the accident.
