The voice of the popular “Au no Santaro” CM series – Marina Aicholtz

Marina Aicholtz (18) is best known for narrating the popular “Au no Santaro” CM series as well for other CM and variety shows in Japan.

Marina made her debut in 2009 for commercials such as “Mr. Donuts”, “ABC Mart” but from her role on “Au no Santaro” (which she was also featured in a CM back in March), her range of work has expanded.

Marina was interviewed by Mantan Web recently.

Marina’s father is American, her mother is Japanese and she currently attends a university at a US military base.

She didn’t tell anyone that she was doing narration work but when she appeared in the Santaro CM, friends and even her teacher found out and they were supportive.

Her father and sister communicate with her in English, but Marina learned Japanese from her mother since kindergarten up until she was five years old.

Her scripts are written in kanji with furigana and in the CM, she spoke with an English intonation in the CM.

Marina said that when she watches TV at home with her mother, she would often listen to the narration and learn from it.

Marina tells Mantan Web that she is quiet person who likes to sit in the back of the classroom.  She loves American films, dramas and animation and that she loves listening to Ariana Grande.  She also listens to Mariah Carey, Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley and the Beatles.

After school, she enjoys going out to karaoke with friends and love to go shopping with friends in Sibuya and Harajuku and also to eat sweets.

Her dream is to do voice acting for animation but she would also like to challenge singng and acting and possibly work internationally someday.

Marina is currently narrating FUJI TV’s “Shinsetsu! Tokoro JAPAN”.
