Uchida Yuki to host a TV program for the first time in 23 years

Uchida Yuki (43) will be hosting a TV program for the first time in 23 years. It was announced that Uchida will host TBS’ “Uta no Golden Hit ~Showa Heisei no Rekidai Utahime Best 100″ (Golden Hit Best Songs ~The Best songs of Showa and Heisei Best 100~”.

The program will be broadcast on February 11th and will be hosted by Uchida alongside Sakai Masaaki (72) and Miyasako Hiroyuki (48).

Uchida currently appears on the NHK drama “Munpuku” and has focused on her career as an actress, but aside from acting, Uchida began her career as a model and hosted a late night radio show titled “Yozora ni YOUKISS!” from 1994-2001 on Nippon Broadcasting.

She released her single “TENCA wo Torou!” in 1994 which ranked #1 on the Oricon Music Charts, becoming the first solo female artist in Japan to debut at #1 and would have a string of hits through the ’90s such as “Only You” and “Baby’s Growing Up”.

But Uchida also appeared in hit films as the lead actress in “Hana yori dango” (1995) and “Cat’s Eye” (1997).
