Arai Hirofumi charged with sexual assault

Arai Hirofumi (40) is one of Japan’s most famous actors.

Having starred in many films since making his debut in “GO” back in 2001.  He was seen most recently in “Gintama”, “The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.”, “A Boy Who Wished to be Okuda Tamio and a Girl Who Drove All Men Crazy” too name a few.  In 2016, Arai won a “Best Supporting Actor” award for his role in the film “Hyaku-en no Koi”.  Hirofumi has two films released in 2019, most notably his role in “Typhoon Kazoku”.

And now Hirofumi is in hot water after being charged with sexual assault.

Arai is suspected of sexual assault to a female employee in her thirties who worked at a mobile massage shop at a home in Setagaya Ward, Tokyo back on July 1st.  After the assault, the woman filed a report of the assault to police.  A police report was issued on February 1st and now the Metropolitan Police Department is investigating.
