Billboard JAPAN Top Singles Sales Chart: Kis-My-Ft2 takes the weekly charts at #1, while IZ*ONE’s debut single takes #2 but records impressive sales for first week

It was a tough battle for the top spot on the weekly charts as IZ*ONE, who debuted at #1 with “Suki to Iwasetai”, over Kis-My-Ft2’s “Kimi wo Daisuki da”, would see a reverse in sales as Kis-My-Ft2 would take the Billboard Weekly Charts.

In the end, Kis-My-Ft2’s 23rd single sold 312,064 copies while IZ*ONE sold 303,745 copies, an 8,000 copy difference.

As for IZ*ONE (who is co-managed by OFF THE RECORD Entertainment and AKS, who manages AKB48, SKE48 and HKT48), the idol group shouldn’t feel too bad of not securing the #1 spot on the weekly charts, as the sales for their debut single was very impressive!

With 303,745 copies sold, this puts IZ*ONE at #1 for “Top Sales for the First Week of a Debut Single by an Idol Group”.

The previous #1 on the “Billboard JAPAN Top Singles Sales Chart” was Keyakizaka46’s debut single “Silent Majority” (April 2016) with 284,460 copies sold.  Previously the record was held by HKT48’s debut single from March 2013 titled “Suki! Suki! Skip!” which had the record of over 250,000 copies sold and prior to that was NMB48’s July 2011 debut single  “Zetsumetsu Kurokami Shojo” which sold over 218,000 copies.
