“Ginga: Nagareboshi Gin” revolves around an Akita Inu pup named “Gin” who leaves his master, Daisuke, to join a pack of wild dogs.  The pack is gathering the strongest dogs from all over Japan to fight a deranged bear named Akakabuto and his group.   The manga series would receive a 21-episode anime adaptation in 1986.

The series would be continued a decade later in 2009 with “Ginga Legend Weed: Orion” about Gin’s grandchildren, Weed’s pups Orion, Sirius, Rigel and Bellatrix.
