Mobile Suit Gundam and Zaku to be launched in space to support the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics

A unique effort is being planned to launch a model of a Mobile Suit Gundam and Zaku into space and display a cheerful message to support the athletes and display it on a bulletin board during the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics in 2020.

The announcement was made on May 15th by JAXA (Japan Aereospace Exploration Agency).

The goal is to load the models on a space transport ship and launch it in March 2020 from the space station.

The two models will be 10cm in height (3.9 inches) and are planned to stand on a satelite.  A small electronic bulletin board is attached to the base of the model and when the Olympics/Paralympics start next July, a cheering message to athletes will be displayed.
