Nakayama Eri reveals the harassment she endured while a member of Tokyo Dome City and Toei’s “Hero Show” for Theater G-Rosso

Nakayama Eri was known for being part of the latest incarnation of “HERO SHOW” at Tokyo Dome City.

A live stage special effects show by Toei, the 2019 show is “Kishiryu Sentai Ryusoulger Show” (Knight Dragon Squadron Ryusoulger), based on the 43rd season of the super sentai show on TV Asahi.

But the biggest surprise was on June 22nd when she announced that she was graduating.

And then Nakayama revealed the reason why she left was the enduring sexual harassment she received and why she waited after Golden Week to come clear of what had happened to her.

Nakayama said that she doubts her own lack of power but there were a lot of things that she can’t forgive and had to speak out.

どうして卒業したかというと、入った当初からの度重なる嫌がらせ(基本的に挨拶も無視、握手会中に水を掛けて妨害する、など)と、セクハラ (男性器のあだ名をつけて呼ぶ、すれ違い様にお尻を揉む、避けられない空間での卑猥な質問や直接的に胸を触る、など)に黙って１年耐えていたら、

それも不愉快だったのかゴールデンウィーク明けに「力不足なのでもう来なくていいです」と言われてそれっきりです。
会社からは、余計なことを言ったらもうお前に仕事を振らないぞ、と強く言われていましたのでこれを発信するということはそういうことです。

Nakayama said it was difficult, that while she had the pleasure to meet customers and be with children with good hearts, she felt with the end of the Heisei Era and with the new Reiwa Era, that women should not put up with sexual harassment and keep quiet as they did in the past and children who lived at the end of the era will live without having to endure the harassment of the previous era.  She wants children to know that kind of hero.

わたしの力不足に間違いありません。しかしそれ以上に許してはいけないことが沢山ありました。
特に性的な嫌がらせは、気にしていない、怒っていないフリをし続けなければいけませんでした。
お客様のおかげでお仕事は楽しかったけれど、胸を張って子供たちの前に立つには、少し辛かったのも事実です。

降りかかる性的な嫌がらせを、気にせず笑って流せるのがよく出来た女だとも言われてきました。でも、平成も終わり令和の時代を生きる子供たちには、前時代的なハラスメントに苦しめられることなく、自らの権利を害されることなく生きて欲しいと思います。そんなヒーローに出会って欲しいと思います。

Nakayama said that there are rumors that she was forced to quit and people making it look like she was the bad person. And that because she enjoyed her work, she should just shut up and endure it because sexual harassment is just a joke and it can’t be helped because that is part of the industry.

But Nakayama felt that whatever industry you work in, there needs to be a change, especially for the next generation.

「パワハラ、セクハラはただの冗談だから、そういう業界だから仕方ない」と散々言われてきました。お仕事が楽しかったのであれば、本当は余計なことを発信せずに黙って耐えておくべきなのかもしれません。ですが、どんな業界であれ次の世代のために変わらなければいけないと思っています。

Nakayama saw the comments, some saying that she was lying and then she wrote in full detail of the harassment she endured:  She also feels that she feels supported by the comments she received.  And hopes for a better direction in a right society for our children’s future.

Tokyo Dome Co., Ltd. and Toei Agency, Inc. have posted a notice on their website and apologized if the complaint is true and those who have worried about the situation.

The companies are currently investigating and confirming the facts and will post the results of their investigation.
