Eating at Munch’s Burger Shack in Minato, Tokyo – Is it really the best burger in Tokyo?

In Tokyo, I have written about the best burgers in Tokyo and shared the list of other recommendations of best burger locations.

One location that has no doubt has a strong following that people are willing to wait an hour to eat at is Munch’s Burger Shack.

Many people will go as far to proclaim that “Munch’s Burger Shack has the best burger in Tokyo!”.

I’ve eaten at many burger locations throughout Tokyo and I can easily say that Munch’s Burger Shack is probably the most busiest burger place that you will have to wait in line for. I’ve waited in line at burger shops but that’s because of slow service, but Munch’s Burger Shack, they are the real deal that attracts people all over the world who want to eat at the restaurant.

But one thing that Munch’s Burger Shack prides itself on is their meat. Owner Yanagisawa Yutaka can be seen in photos of him cutting the meat and the work involved in creating the most flavorful patty.

Munch’s Burger Shack uses 100% high quality Angus US beef, they are responsible for cutting the meat and preparing it as a patty and making sure lean meat is used. This is different compared to other burger shops

The potatoes (French Fries) are made from raw potatoes fried in their shop and they smoke their own bacon for five days and also chili beans and sauces are all handmade.

So, that shows you how dedicated Munch’s Burger Shack is to their product and many people, including myself agree.

You’ll notice the photos of President Trump and Prime Minister Abe Shinzo eating a burger from Munch’s Burger Shack. Yanagisawa-san was asked to make burgers and bring it over to the golf course where the two were playing golf at.

President Trump ordered the Colby Jack Cheeseburger and his comments on the burger were “Very good!”.

Another thing that Munch’s Burger Shack is different from other burger shops is that they deliver to a home or office. Granted, delivery is only for those who spend over Y2000 and there is a delivery fee of Y250.

While their Chili Cheeseburger is what many recommend (and also one of the most expensive in their menu at Y1600), I went for my usual, the avocado cheeseburger (Y1350).

Munch’s Burger Shack is no doubt one of the top 10 burger restaurants in Tokyo. But the question is if you are willing to wait?

It’s about 45-an hour wait, depending on how many people are in line. I had about a dozen people before me, so I knew it was going to take awhile because once you get to the top, there are only a few tables. You will more than likely be brought to the back to the bottom floor which is where the main dining location is.

But I have to say that I love this restaurant for its delicious patties, crisp bun and for the most part, they offer so many types of burgers, that you feel like wanting to try each variation. It’s that good!

But again, it depends on how long you are willing to wait. There are many delicious burger shops throughout Tokyo, without a large line or a long wait. But because of Munch’s Burger Shack’s awesome reputation of being one of the best, it also has one of the longest lines that people in Tokyo, including travelers are willing to wait in line.

So, if you asked me if it’s worth the wait, my answer is yes!

Just make sure you go to the bathroom first and have a drink in your bag ready, if you are going to wait in line that long! But it’s well worth the wait!
