SKE48 tops TWICE on the Oricon Single Weekly Charts (July 22-28, 2019)

There has been a lot of media build-up of who will top the weekly Oricon charts between SKE48 and TWICE for July 22-28, 2019.   Many wondered if TWICE, who is very popular in Japan, could end SKE48’s consecutive #1 streak on the Oricon Single Weekly Charts.

And the results are in and SKE48’s #1 streak is extended to 21 no. 1 singles on the Oricon Charts (which the idol group has had since 2011).

SKE48 sold 320,614 copies of “FRUSTRATION”, while TWICE’s “Breakthrough” sold 229,326 copies.  Both are fantastic in terms of CD single sales for both groups.

Meanwhile ARASHI’s “5 x 20 All the BEST!! 1999-2019” debuted at #1 with a total of 34,792 copies sold for the Oricon Album Weekly Charts.
