Akashiya Sanma who was voted #1 favorite entertainer in 2018 was voted #1 disliked entertainer for 2019

Nikkei Entertainment has annual rankings for “Favorite/Disliked Entertainer” and in 2018, Akashiya Sanma, has been #1 on the favorite entertainer ranking since the annual rankings has started.

But in the August issue of “Nikkei Entertainment!”, Akashiya Sanma was ranked #1 for “Disliked Entertainer”.

According to people interviewed by Toyo Keizai, those who criticized Sanma was his remarks on traditional values, such as “A woman should quit her job when she has met a good boyfriend” and also his continued remarks towards Goriki Ayame and Kato Ayako have grown unfavorable.

Also, a change of the times in Japan with people being more conscious towards sexual harassment, power harassment, society is changing and when Sanma makes comments, some people feel that he’s part of entertainers that have old-fashioned values and continually makes statements that don’t reflect with today’s social environment.
