Why you toss those sponges that were included on Japanese music CD's back then...

Many years ago, Japanese CD’s would often have these little sponges to protect your CD’s from getting scratched from the interior plastic.

But not many people expected the sponge to deteriorate and destroy their music CD’s.

Rokuno Kouchi posted the damage his CD’s received from keeping the sponge inside the case for decades:

30年くらい前の、DGのCD、2枚組以上の場合、薄いスポンジが挟んであったのですが、このスポンジが経年劣化でボロボロになり、さらに一緒に入っていたCDがみな、なぜか剥離を起こし再生できなくなるという現象が起こっています。
取り急ぎ確認の上、スポンジを捨てた方が良いと思われます。 pic.twitter.com/JOWEdAEqfu
