Ikimono-gakari announced they are going independent and will be leaving Cube, Inc. on April 1st

Ikimono-gakari, a Japanese rock band from Kanagawa prefecture featuring  members Yoshikoka Kiyoe, Yamashita Hotaka and Mizuno Yoshiki have been part of the entertainment management company Cube, Inc. since 2005.

But the band announced on their website that they plan to go independent from their entertainment office and are leaving Cube, Inc. on April 1, 2020 and will establish their new company on April 2, 2020 and make a brand new start to kick off their 20th anniversary.

The band wished the company’s president, Kitamaki Hiroyuki well and also showed their gratitude to the man who took them in.

The band started in their teens and are now in their 30’s, the times have changed and the music environment has change and because of that, the three discussed what direction they want the band to go towards.

The band members said they want to make their own decisions, have more freedom and more fun.

The president of Cube Inc, Kitamaki Hiroyuki said, “Ikimono-gakari will be leaving Cube on April 1, 2020. If I remember, Cube, Inc. was founded when I was the age of 37 and now they are approaching that age.  I understand their desire to fly with their own wings.  I feel I have been a parent, as I’m older and hope they don’t fall.  But I think it’s a parent’s affection to push them and support them.  I accept their decision and I am happy for them to undertake their new journey”.
