Gesu no Kiwami Otome to release the first album in the world with an expiration date

The rock band Gesu no Kiwami Otome has announced that they will be releasing an album with an expiration date, the first attempt in the world.

The new album titled “Streaming, CD, Record” was announced and will have a special release method.

The picture of the CD has been revealed and the lyrics booklet is enclosed in the CD case and in a box is a patisserie KIHACHI “Baumkuchen” instead of a CD (and people can stream the album).

According to vocalist Kawatani Enon, “I think there were more people who don’t listen to CD’s, because PC’s no longer have CD drives and more people are subscribing (to online music distribution sites) and many people who bought it, bought it for the lyrics cards.  It seems that we have re-examined the ‘value of the CD’ in the modern era.  At the CD shop, it is said that the shelves are changing too much.  I think there is a deadline for CD’s, so I thought it would be better to put Baumkuchen and put an expiration date on the album”.

The album release date is June 17th and the expiration date of the Baumkuchen is about one month from June 10th, the factory shipment date.

The album will also have a Deluxe Edition which contains a CD instead of the Baumkuchen and the band’s first analog record edition will also be released.  That is why the title of the new album is “Streaming, CD, Record”.
