BABYMETAL to perform at the 71st NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen

It was announced that BABYMETAL will be participating on the 71st NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen which will be broadcast on New Year’s Eve.

This year is the 10th anniversary of the group’s formation and their best album “10 BABYMETAL YEARS” will be released on December 23rd and members Su-metal (22) and Moametal (21) will conclude the milestone in 2020 the best possible way.

The group’s last album “METAL GALAXY” which was released worldwide in October last year, ranked 13th on the US Billboard general album chart.  The last Japanese to top the US Billboard general album chart was Sakamoto Kyu back in 1963.

The group performed on a world tour including 20 locations in the United States, including Los Angeles.  And a triumphant return live was also held in Japan, ending with an additional performance at Makuhara Messe back in January this year before the spread of the novel coronavirus infection.

The group appeared on “NHK WORLD – Japan presents SONGS OF TOKYO” in October which was held at NHK Hall without an audience.
