Ikeda Elaiza wins her first directing award at the ELLE CINEMA AWARDS 2020

Ikeda Elaiza (24) won the “ELLE Girl New Director Award” at the ELLE CINEMA AWARD 2020.

Ikeda directed her first film “Natsu, Itaru Koro” (Town without a Sea) which was released on December 4th and has received praise that she was officially invited to screen her film at the 23rd Shanghai International Film Festival.

Ikeda said, “I’m glad that I was able to give something back to the staff and cast who worked hard to make this movie with my soul.  I’m worried about the future but through the medium of cinema, I myself sincerely hope that you will spend time experiencing the original feeling of a film”.

As for whether if she will continue acting, Ikeda said, “I will continue to work as an actress and I will continue to push forward without being bound by prejudice so that I can be involved in the irreplaceable existence of a film.  Thank you for this wonderful award!”.

Other winners of the night include Aoi Yu (35) who won “Best Actress” for her role in “Spy no Tsuma” (Wife of a Spy) and “Best Actor” award went to Yokohama Ryusei (24) for the film “Kimi no Me Ga Toikaketeiru”.  The “Best Director Award” went to Kurosawa Kiyoshi (35) for “Spy no Tsuma”.
