In an interview with Famitsu, the NieR Automata development staff said there was something implemented in the code but it hasn’t been found yet, but they think it was something that wasn’t good.
In fact, the staff said they won’t even mention it because it may cause problems. So, it’s a secret.
On Twitter, Lance McDonald posted the following:
I found a cheat code in NieR Automata that allows you to skip to the last ending immediately after killing the first boss and unlock the bonus modes. I’ll do a full video soon. It’s not a glitch, it’s an actual cheat code hard-coded into the engine. @yokotaro pic.twitter.com/FtuNPovq6F

According to Lance, it took hundreds of hours of reverse engineering.
