Komuro Tetsuya and KEIKO finalize their divorce

They were once Japan’s super couple, super producer and musician Komuro Tetsuya (TK) (62) and globe vocalist KEIKO (48) have finalized their divorced.

The announcement was made on the official website of KEIKO’s management.

The two were married in 2002 but in January 2018, Bunshun reported allegations of infidelity between Komuro Tetsuya and a nurse that was watching KEIKO (KEIKO suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage back in October 2011).

After the allegations, Komuro held a press conference, revealing that KEIKO suffered from a brain dysfunction and her kanji ability was that of someone who was in the 4th grade of elementary school.  Komuro announced that he was retiring.

But then KEIKO’s relatives criticized Komuro’s remark, saying that was not fact and that he wasn’t helping his wife with expenses.

In 2019, KEIKO returned to Twitter and that she was working out at the gym and going out for karaoke and in a prepared statement on the Avex Mangement wegbsite, she wrote “Thanks to you, I am living a healthy daily life without any major side effects.  I will continue to give back to everyone as an artist while paying attention to managing my health. I would like to move forward with new feelings and strong determination”.

Last year through arbitration, it was reported that Komuro filed for divorce.

Initially, Komuro offered KEIKO 80,000 yen per month for living expenses according to news reports, despite Komuro earning nearly 100 million yen from copyright royalties, but Komuro claimed after deducting taxes and expenses that he had only 6 million yen.(It’s important to note that Komuro was convicted for fraud of 500 million yen in 2008, his sentence was suspended for five years back in 2008).

The 80,000 yen per month was rejected but according to reports, that an amount close to KEIKO’s request was accepted. According to news articles, In mediation, KEIKO was also to receive property.

Komuro is known for being part of the popular group TM NETWORK which debuted in 1983.  In 1993, he formed TRF (Tetsuya’s Rave Factory), which he produced.  And started his own group globe with KEIKO as the lead vocalist and Marc Panther as the rapper and the trio became one of Japan’s most successful groups in the ’90s.  TK produced many artists throughout the ’90s including Amuro Namie, Shinohara Ryoko, Uchida Yuki and many more.

Komuro returned back from retirement in 2018 and two and a half years later, composing and arranging Nogizaka46’s single back in July of last year.
