TM NETWORK is back, Komuro Tetsuya (TK) returns from retirement

TM NETWORK is one of Japan’s most popular new wave bands from the ’80s. Featuring keyboardist Komuro Tetsuya (TK) (62), vocalist Utsunomiya Takashi (63) and guitarist Kine Naoto (64),and are best known for their song “Get Wild”, the ending theme for the anime “City Hunter”.

The group made their official debut back in April 1984 but broke up in 1994, which led to Komuro Tetsuya becoming the mega producer, which would lead to the popularity of Amuro Namie, TRF, Shinohara Ryoko, Uchida Yuki, globe and many more artists during the ’90s.

The group reunited in 1999.  And while the group would reunite and release music as TMN, the group was never expected to return, due to the retirement of Komuro Tetsuya in 2018 after an affair scandal and details of his divorce were made public (Komuro was married to globe vocalist, KEIKO).

Komuro said of his return, “I apologize for the inconvenience caused by my troubles. Please let me play music for a while. Please allow me to work. I’m physically weaker than before, but above all, I feel that the ideas and energy to create music are definitely evolving. TM wants to do TM-like activities. I want to create my own. Even if there are various mistakes, I still have friends who will push me back if I can do it. I have fans who are waiting for me. I thought about a lot of things about this during the corona sickness, and I was inspired by all the things I could do in the time left in Japan. I am full of gratitude every day. I will work hard to create it”.

Utsunomiya said, “As TM NETWORK for the first time in 6 years, I was reassured to be able to face Komuro who returned after a long time through music. Each of our individuality has not changed, and the story of TM NETWORK is still going on. I feel confident”.

Kine said, “I’ve been saying it every time, so you may get tired of listening to it, but as you get older, you get stronger. Because I met Techan and Utsu, I had TM, so we have been creating music for such a long time. There have been dozens of star frosts since then, but I think everyone supported me and welcomed me now. And Tecchan will come back and give me a new challenge. I was convinced by producer Komuro Tetsuya that TM came this way. When the three of us played the sound for the first time in a while, I thought so from the bottom of my heart. I’m convinced that the story of NETWORK will still going on.”
