Many wondered if Matsuda Seiko would be performing at the 72nd NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen, a New Year’s Eve special featuring Japan’s top talents who perform by invitation only.
NHK announced that Matsuda Seiko has declined to participate.
Matsuda Seiko’s daughter, singer/actress Kanda Sayaka (35) died on December 18th after falling from her hotel room window in Sapporo. Sayaka had performed on Kouhaku Uta Gassen twice and according to NHK, “her music reached the hearts of the viewers with her wonderful performances”.
