Hamaguchi Masaru and Minami Akina tested positive for COVID-19

Shochiku Geino announced that Hamaguchi Masaru (49) and his wife, former gravure model/talent Minami Akina (32) tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

Hamaguchi’s comedy partner, Arino Shinya (49) tested negative.

The statement is as follows, “We have confirmed that Hamaguchi Masaru, who belongs to our company, is infected with the novel coronavirus, so we would like to report it”.

Hamaguchi wrote, “I had a fever on January 12th (Wednesday), so when I had a PCR test, I got a positive test result today. I am currently receiving medical treatment according to the instructions of the health center. Mywife, Minami Akina, also underwent a PCR test and received a positive test result, so she is also receiving medical treatment according to the instructions of the health center. As for my partner Arino Shinya, who was a close contact, underwent a PCR test just in case, the test result was negative. We sincerely apologize for causing a great deal of inconvenience and concern to all the people involved in the work and co-stars, and those who are always supporting us. Our company will continue to give priority to thorough physical condition management, prevention of infection to affiliated talents, employees, and related parties under the guidance of government agencies and medical institutions, and thorough measures to prevent infection and spread of the novel coronavirus”

Minami updated her blog and reported that her test was “positive”. Minami writes, “We have received a notification from the health center that no one is a close contact. We apologize for the inconvenience and concern to all the people involved in the work and those who are always supporting us”.
