Entertainment covid cases on the rise reflects what is happening in Japan

This week alone, there have been a constant influx of announcements of entertainers who have tested positive for the novel coronavirus. And it’s reflective of what is happening in Japan as on January 19th, the new COVID-19 cases surged to more than 40,000, smashing the record set a day earlier by about 10,000.

The increase of cases has led to the government putting more prefectures under a quasi-emergency to restrict social and business activities across 13 prefectures through February 13th and will cover Saitama, Chiba, Kanagawa, Gunma, Niigata, Gifu, Aichi, Mie, Kumamoto, Miyazaki, Nagasaki, Kagawa and Tokyo Prefectures.

With the quasi-emergency, prefectural governors can request or order restaurants and bars to shorten their business hours and stop serving alcohol in specific areas within the prefecture.
