LE SSERAFIM members Kim Chaewon and Miyawaki Sakura on how they are closer now than they were in IZ*ONE

Many netizens are surprised with the reveal on Weverse Magazine that LE SSERAFIM members Kim Chaewon and Miyawaki Sakura were not that close when they were members of IZ*ONE.

Chaewon was asked if their relationship was awkward, Chaewon responded, “That’s right. That’s right. (Laughs) There were a lot of members, and the two of us didn’t have much time together. Rather, I was surprised to come here and get to know Kkura-unnie better. I never imagined that we would work together like this again, but she said, “You really never know what life has in store.’ (Laughs) We said that we decided we made the right choice and wish each other luck. Now I’m like, ‘Why didn’t you get along with Kura unnie back then?’ I really don’t understand (laughs), so we’ve become very close. She doesn’t express herself well, but it turned out that she thought of me a lot, and I felt that she was a much warmer person than I thought”.

For IZ*ONE members, many understand what Kim Chaewon means.

Because IZ*ONE had 12 members, they were separated into two dorms. Miyawaki Sakura and the other two J-Line members stay in one dorm, along with Lee Chaeyeon, Jo Yuri and Jang Wonyoung. While in the other dorm, it was Kwon Eunbi, Kim Chaewon, Kim Minju, Choi Yena, Ahn Yujin and Kang Hyewon.

The 12 would interact when they ate out, did public appearances, performed or trained with each other but for the most part, because they lived in different dorms for 2.5 years, Chaewon and Sakura really didn’t do much together.

Also, they are of different personalities as even Sakura’s IZ*ONE roommates would say that she often locked herself in a room and played video games and was one that enjoyed her privacy and is not outgoing.

But people noticed especially in the final concert that Miyawaki Sakura was paying attention to Kim Chaewon and even in the final interviews, Sakura would leave a message to Chaewon that all this time, she has been watching her as a performer.

When rumors came out that Miyawaki Sakura would be joining a HYBE group, there was speculation that she was recruiting two members, Kim Chaewon and Kim Minju (both have a popular following in Korea and Japan).

But it would work out as Kim Chaewon would leave Woolim Entertainment and both she and Sakura would be announced as members of LE SSERAFIM.

Miyawaki Sakura would tell Weverse Magazine about working with Chaewon, “Chaewon has really changed. She had a lot of unnies and a leader when we were promoting together before, so I had never seen Chaewon talking about practice. But in LE SSERAFIM, we are the oldest members, so there is a part where we have to lead the younger members. I was very surprised to see these words coming out to Chaewon and I thought it was cool. And while preparing for her debut, Chaewon and I came to understand each other automatically even if we didn’t talk to each other a lot, even if we just looked into each other’s eyes. I would not have been able to come this far without Chaewon, and I was grateful that she told me that she felt the same way. Originally, neither I nor Chaewon shared much about the difficulties we were facing, but now I feel so much more comfortable to be able to talk about our challenges and worries in front of the members”.
