The people of Earth learned they were not alone when the aliens arrived, wanting to trade an incredible advancement in technology for the small price of a few shipments of common rock. Almost every country and corporation in the world seized upon the opportunity, and within a few years the massive robots known as EXOFRAMEs had replaced most forms of motorized industry.

But perhaps mankind should have been more cautious of aliens bearing gifts, because in one fell swoop the precarious balance in military forces and hardware that had long separated each nation and rogue group was irrevocably altered. With the scales of power thus readjusted, many who hated their neighbors or coveted their possessions saw a chance, at last, to strike. And so, the bloodshed and the wars began as the old status quo became OBSOLETE.

Sometimes you come across an anime series that can be so weird and almost becoming an adult anime series but manages to not go so far that it can be yet televised.

That is the case with “Monsuta Musume no Oisha-san” (Monster Girl Doctor) which is an anime series based on the Japanese light novel series by Origuchi Yoshino and illustrator Z-Ton.

The anime adaptation was produced by Arvo Animation (a new anime studio which has creatd “We Never Learn: BOKUBEN” and “Irina: The Vampire Cosmonaut” and is now available on Blu-ray courtesy of Sentai Filmworks.

The series revolves around Glenn Litbeith, a human male in a world where a longtime war between humans and monsters have ended and for Glenn, he serves as a doctor in the city of Lindworm to many of the monsters.

His assistant is his childhood friend, an albino lamia (half human/half serpent) named Saphentite Neikes aka “Sapphee”.  Unbeknown to Glenn, Sapphee is deeply in love with him and gets very jealous when he helps other female monsters.  He is also helped by fairies and a few other monster creatures.

The series features Dr. Litbeith helping a variety of characters such as the centaur fighter, Tisalia Scythia who has not been able to fight for some reason.  Another is helping a mermaid named Lulala Heines with inflamed gills and many more.

While, the series appears to be a simple storyline of a doctor finding ways to heal his patients, what makes “Monster Musume no Oisha-san” different is that his ways of assisting his patients, is displayed in a sexual manner.  Not to mention, the human part of these human/monster hybrids is that the women, are well-endowed and some go as far as falling for Litbeith, which makes his assistant, Sapphee even more jealous.

And part of the TV MA V rating the anime receives looks like porn, but it’s not.  For example, Dr. Litbeith trying to look into inflammation in the gills of a mermaid and using his fingers to put into her gills in a manner that resembles something sexual in order to save her.

This is something consistent you will see throughout the anime series, so one can easily say this anime series is for those who like pervy anime and fan service.  Granted, the females are again half human/half monster but storywise, it is a fun, perverted series.

The animation is vibrant and for new animation studio, Arvo Animation, they did a job well done.  The Japanese and English dub are also well-acted and as for special features, you get the opening and closing animations, the insert song, a Japanese teaser and web previews.

Overall, “Monster Girl Doctor – Complete Collection” is an anime series for those who like short anime series, but also loves fun storylines and plenty of fan service and tend to prefer something more perverted and on the more mature side, then this anime is for you!
