Oyamada Keigo (Cornelius) to resume entertainment activities after bullying scandal

Oyamada Keigo (Cornelius) released a tweet that he will be resuming activities, many months after a scandal involving his early 1990’s comments about bullying a disabled person, which led to him resigning from the music production team for last year’s summer Olympics.

Oyamada said that he will perform at the FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL 2022 and SONICMANIA and has reflected strongly on his past immaturity and constantly thinks about how he should face society from now on.

Oyamada has faced major backlash for his past comments in an interview article about him bullying a classmate with disabilities. In the 1994 article for “Rockin’ On Japan”, Oyamada bragged about how he was proud about bullying a classmate who had disabilities which led to many demanding Oyamada’s resignation from the music production team for the Olympics.

Oyamada sent an apology on his website, writing “I apologize from the bottom of my heart, of course to the classmate himself whom I have hurt, and all my fans, friends and other people involved”.

Oyamada wrote on Twitter that he hoped to contact the person he had bullied and apologize and wrote that he was “immature” and that it was because of his guilt that prevented him from coming forward.
