Japan confirmed 47,977 new novel coronavirus infections due to the Omicron Ba.5 subvariant on Thursday, July 7th, twice the number from last week’s surging numbers and exceeding the 40,000 mark for the second consecutive day.
Tokyo confirmed 8,529 infections and that Tokyo has entered the 7th wave. And other prefectures have also shown numbers to have increased.
