Tanaka Aimi (22), a rookie singer who is currently a university student at the New National Theater Tokyo, won the “Best New Artist Award” at the “Dai 64-kai Kagayaku! Nihon Record Taisho” (64th Shining! Japan Record Awards) (sponsored by the Japan Composer’s Association, etc.).

When Tanaka’s name was called out for the “Best New Artist Award”, she looked to the side and then said “huh”, a look of disbelief on her face and a smile.

She soon burst into tears and she exclaimed, “I’m so happy!” She continued, “It was my dream to stand on this stage, but I’m really happy to receive the Best New Artist Award like this. Thank you very much.”

With the award which she just received, she sang “Osaka Loneliness” again.

Influenced by his parents, Tanaka had many opportunities to come into contact with enka and popular songs from an early age, and she began to take an interest in them. She is a new star with a husky singing voice, melancholy and dynamic, such as winning the Grand Prix in 2019 at the “Japan Crown Enka/Kayokyoku Rookie Audition” that produced Miyama Hiroshi and Nakazawa Takuya. She made her debut on November 10, 2021 with the song “Kodoku no Utahime Singer”.
