Winter Comic Market 101 (Comiket) returns to Tokyo Big Sight, with overseas travelers for the first time since December 2019

Winter Comic Market #101 (Comiket) began on Friday and the event celebrates its first event with people traveling from overseas since Winter 2019 (due to the relaxation of immigration restrictions because of COVID-19).

Comic Market, more commonly known as Comiket or Comike, is a semiannual doujinshi convention in Tokyo, Japan and brings in over a  730,000 attendees (cumulative).

A grassroots market focused on the sale of doujin works, Comiket is a not-for-profit fan convention administered by the volunteer-run Comic Market Preparatory Committee.

While Comic Market 97 set a new record of over 750,000 attendees in 2019, due to preventing of spreading of COVID-19 as part of infection control measures, the event has been structured to prevent crowding in accordance to the guidelines of the government, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the venue, Tokyo Big Sight.

The event will be opening up in a few hours for day 2!
