The day after Christmas, things didn’t go well between Inoue Masahiro, who played the main role of Kadoya Tsukasa/Kamen Rider Decade and Totani Kimito (who played the role of Kaito Daiki/Kamen Rider Diend).

Inoue shared private LINE messages and let everyone know that Totani has not paid him back.

Matsuda Satoshi who plays the role of Akiyama Ren/Kamen Rider Knight in “Kamen Rider Ryuki” wrote, “As long as you posted the troubled friend’s LINE on Twitter, I think there was an unimaginable suffering. I think that’s true, but I don’t want you to destroy everyone’s dreams with tens of thousands of yen. I want you to never forget that there are people who find the existence of the two of you to be a reason to live. I apologize for the opinion from the outside”.

Realizing that his comment may have been a bit harsh towards Inoue, Matsuda wrote, “The words ‘about tens of thousands of yen’ was inappropriate. very sorry. Also, I know Inoue-kun’s personality, his wonderful humanity. So, I’m not attacking Inoue-kun, I’m lamenting on this “incident”. Of course, it is the fault of the side that forced him to go that far”.

Needless to say, the exchange involving the three well-known Kamen Rider actors brought fans arguing on social media of who was right and who was wrong.

On December 30th, both Inoue and Matsuda went on the YouTube channel for stage production unit GGE to discuss the matter.

Matsuda pointed out that by exposing the financial exchanges to the outside, “You made the other party’s fans bear the responsibility of the other party”.’ Matsuda said that he was worried that even fans were involved as a result of revealing parts that people really didn’t want to see.  And disrupting a dream.

Inoue said, “Working hard in the shadows, but acting strong in front of everyone is the person I want to be in my dreams”. Inoue said, this trouble is a “personal story” and is separate from the “Kamen Rider work”. “Everyone’s dreams are dreams and unfortuantely they don’t really see us as separate”, he said sadly.

When he continued to lend money every time, Totani said, “I will return it in a month,” “I have no food to eat now”, “It’s becoming difficult, I have nothing to eat for lunch”.  Based on the idea that “I can’t ignore people who are going down a bad path”, Inoue said that is why he decided to post this time after repeatedly trying to contact him with no answer and so he decided, “I will make it public”.

Inoue said, “People who say, ‘Don’t destroy one’s dreams’, please think which one was better. If I didn’t say anything, the amount of money he borrowed from various people would increase and he would be arrested and go to court. Or should we all take a good look at him, hope he will change for the better, and see if he still can continue his dream?”.

Matsuda also thought about it, but he did not waver in his stance of questioning the release of screenshots, saying, “Ma-kun (Inoue) is not in a position to punish”, and suggested the next best measure, was to get the police to intervene.

However, Inoue said, “I want to stop the number of victims from increasing. I think that there will be no one to lend to him money if I get him back like this.  I don’t want him to become a criminal. So, doing this was the best choice to solve the problem without him getting into trouble with the police”.

At the end of the discussion, Inoue said, “I don’t know what the correct answer is” and bowed and said its best to stop the fight between the fans who argued on both sides. In addition, he will respond to discussions with Totani, saying, “If Totani wants to, we can discuss this any time”.

Netizen comments to the video were as follows:

I could feel how good the two of them are and how good they were as people, and my misunderstandings and prejudices were cleared up. I think it’s natural for people to have different opinions on the internet. I see people who have a different way of thinking than I do, but I want to try to show understanding.

Each person has a different way of thinking , but there are feelings that only Inoue-san, who is the person concerned, can understand.

Don’t equate a character with an actor. I agree with Inoue-san’s way of thinking because I think that actors are also human beings.

Neither Inoue Masahiro nor Matsuda Satoshi said anything bad or wrong, and when I saw Matsuda-san listening carefully to the other person’s opinion, I thought again that he was a very kind person and I thought he was cool!

I’m glad Matsuda-san was here. I understand both ways of thinking.

I could feel Inoue-san’s anguish, and Matsuda-san took all his words seriously and spoke his own opinion. Thank you very much. “I don’t want to stain the work,” said Inoue=san. Thank you for your hard work.

Although their ways of thinking are different, I was able to tell that the feelings and passion of the two people for their works are real Inoue-san, who gave priority to the quick resolution of the turmoil, and Matsuda-san, who gave top priority to the feelings of our fans. I think both opinions are correct. Totani-san, at least, I just want you to take this opportunity to change your mind a little. Thank you both for giving me this opportunity during this difficult time.

Inoue-san, even if he himself is covered in scars, I could feel his passion for cherishing him as a friend. Matsuda-san, I was touched by the kindness of your careful choice of words and your kindness in trying not to hurt Inoue-san, who was nervous as much as possible.  I think it was hard for both of you, but thank you for taking the plunge to have this discussion on video.

Born in 1999, I belong to the generation that watched”Ryuki” and “Decade” in real time. Matsuda-san is more emotionally attached to fans than usual because he is often close to his fans now, and he doesn’t want fans to destroy their dreams, and he doesn’t want fans to quarrel with each other. And because I don’t know the relationship between Inoue-san and the other in particular, I think he wanted to keep it private and not reveal it. And Inoue-san knows the bad behavior of the other party so far, but he also knows the good points of the other party from the long relationship since “Decade”, and so far he has not touched much on cast arrests and scandals. There are some series that have become difficult to get rid of, so I have a feeling that I want to cherish the work called “Decade” from now on, so I can stop now before the other party doesn’t stop and eventually it becomes a police matter. I think there was also a sense of mission that he was the only one that coudl do this. It seemed like he was carrying a lot of things. If such a worst case happens, riders No. 1 and No. 2 will co-star safely like this “Ryuki” revival work! Because it will not come true, and as a person-to-person relationship, Inoue-san has a work called “Kamen Rider Decade” that is inseparable in the relationship between two people, and the dream of its fans. I think it was this action because he wanted to protect it the most. This is just an opinion of an individual who saw “Decade” and admired him as an actor.

As for Totani Kimito, he has released the following statement on Twitter, “Happy New Year everyone. At the end of last year, I caused a lot of trouble for everyone who have always supported me. I am sorry for those who were concerned. I will thoroughly reflect on my own mistakes and I appreciate the support of my peers. I will focus on performing arts activities even more in 2023. I am still immature but I would like to thank you all again”.

And on Instagram, “Last year, a lot of things happened for a year, and at the end of the year, I made a lot of mistakes. I started the new year with a lot of laughs with a lot of friends, and I really felt the warmth of people. Friends are the most important thing. ✨ I have legacy of people who support and believe in me”. 😊
