A lot of buzz on social media when YOSHIKI mentioned “Shizuka” on THE LAST ROCKERS PPV

There was a lot of buzz during the New Year’s Eve PPV of “THE LAST ROCKERS” on Nico Nico Channel.   YOSHIKI said another celebrity name that raised a lot of eyebrows.

In fact, even Jousei Prime had an article about it.

Many viewers watched the distribution as they could listen to the New Year countdown and live talks between the band members.

On the way to the studio by chartered bus from NHK Hall, YOSHIKI celebrated the New Year countdown with an oversized cracker, HYDE from “L’Arc~en~Ciel”, SUGIZO from “LUNA SEA” and “X JAPAN” and guitarist MIYAVI.

HYDE soothed YOSHIKI, who was having a blast with the leftover crackers, as he urged the staff, “Are you not bringing wine? Wine?”.

YOSHIKI complained about the New Year’s Eve soba he ate on the train, saying, “It’s a little more delicious than flattering.”

Arriving at the studio, YOSHIKI was seen in a good mood after toasting with champagne and enjoying the New Year dishes. From the beginning of the broadcast, everyone was calm and it was a happy broadcast for fans who can glimpse the private relationship of the four.

But about an hour after the four band members appeared, after looking back on the Kouhaku performance, the “incident” suddenly happened. YOSHIKI who was tired then said:

YOSHIKI: Ah, yes. Shizuka is here today. Shizuka.

HYDE: Is it okay to say that?

YOSHIKI: No, no, no.  I’m on good terms.  Is it a bad thing?

MIYAVI: Kudo-san

YOSHIKI: She’s a really wonderful person.

MIYAVI: Yeah, she’s wonderful.

HYDE: She’s a good mother, isn’t she?

MIYAVI: That’s good.

YOSHIKI: Umm, sometimes I get advice and…

HYDE: Don’t say that.

YOSHIKI: Oh, wait, wait, wait. I think this sounds pretty bad. Rewind this. Rewind (time). Whatever. A good person is a good person, that is. I myself am grateful in many ways. I am grateful for history.

HYDE: Thank you for history! Thank you.

SUGIZO: No comment.

For those who are not familiar of why this raised eyebrows, before singer Kudo Shizuka was married to former SMAP member, singer/actor Kimura Takuya and had two daughters (model/musician Cocomi and model/actress KOKI), she was once in a long relationship with YOSHIKI from 1997-1998. She would marry Kimura in 2000.

Many wondered if YOSHIKI may be missing Kudo, who appeared on Kouhaku Uta Gassen for the first time in 24 years.

“It must have been quite a shock for someone who covered the relationship between the two at the time,” laughs entertainment journalist Sasaki Hiroyuki.

“Well, it’s not uncommon in the entertainment world for wives and husbands to be ‘someone’s ex-girlfriend or ex-boyfriend’, and since they repeatedly fell in love and broke up, if you care about that, then they won’t be a celebrity couple. However, if you continue to keep in touch, it seems like a relatively close relationship, both are over the age of 50. It may be a relationship that has already transcended romantic feelings and relationships between men and women. However, I’m worried about KimuTaku”.
