Where are they now?: The cast of Ninja Sentai Kakuranger (1994-1995)

On February 18, 1994, TV Asahi broadcasted the first episode of Ninja Sentai Kakuranger.  Voted in numerous sentai surveys in Japan of being the no. 1 sentai series of the ’90s, a total of 53 episodes were broadcasted through February 24, 1995.

The sentai series was known for the series showcasing a ninja sentai team and also featuring a female leader.

The series starred Japanese actors Ogawa Teruaki as Ninja Red/Sasuke, Hirose Satomi as Ninja White/Tsuruhime, Tsuchida Hiroshi as Ninja Blue/Saizo, Kawai Shun as Ninja Yellow/Seikai and American actor Kane Kosugi as Ninja Black/Jiraiya.

So, where are they now?

Ogawa Teruaki

Ogawa Teruaki is still involved with tokusatsu. In the 2022 ultra series, “Ultra Galaxy Fight: The Destined Crossroad” and “Ultraman Trigger: New Generation Tiga”, he did the voice of Absolute Diavolo and in “Gantz: 0” he did the voice of Hara Tetsuo. He also appeared in numerous other series such as Black Knight/Hyuuga in the 1999 series “Seijuu Sentai Gingaman” and continues to act on stage.

Hirose Satomi

Hirose has since become a businesswoman known for her paintings (holding solo exhibitions all over Japan) and also a kindergarten teacher.

She has reprised her role as Tsurihime in “Goseiger” and “Gokaiger”.

Hirose recently appeared in a crowdfunded music video for “Mama Daisuki Project” to help those who are suffering from child abuse.

Tsuchida Hiroshi

Tsuda has become popular as a seiyuu (voice actor) and narrator.

His voice can be heard on anime and video games such as “Haikyuu!!” as Akaizawa Tsuyoshi, he did the narration for “Yokai Watch!”, “Star Ocean 5” as Gunther, Samaya Nadim in “Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury Prologue” and most recently HANE2 in “Ultraman Decker”,

He has also done the Japanese dub voice for many TV series and films such as Lightning McQueen in “Cars”, Cobra Commander in “GI Joe” and Tony Almeida in “24 -Twenty Four-“.

Kawai Shu

Kawai hasn’t really been seen as much on the entertainment side of things. But he did post a photo of a reunion with his fellow co-stars from Kakurangers on his Facebook account on August 2022.

Kane Kosugi

Before LA-born Kane Kosugi first appeared on “Ninja Sentai Kakuranger”, he was already a well-known as a child action star starring alongside his father, action star Kosugi Sho (and brother Shane).

Kosugi even became more famous when he came in first place six times for the competition TV series “SASUKE” (in the US, known as “Ninja Warrior”) and has appeared in numerous films.

Prior to Kakuranger, he starred in the American produced TV series “Ultraman Powered” in 1992 as Kenichi Kai.

In 2022, he appeared as Azuma/Kamen Rider Daimon in the movie “Kamen Rider Revice: Battle Familia”, making him to become one of the few actors to appear in three different, major tokusatsu series: Super Sentai, Ultra and Kamen Rider.

He recently appeared in “SASUKE2022 ~NINJA WARRIOR” (a 40th anniversary special) on December 27, 2022, clearing the 1st stage. At the age of 48, becoming the oldest person to clear the stage in record time.
