“Aru Otoko” wins a record 8 awards at the 46th Japan Academy Awards

The 46th Japan Academy Awards ceremony was held at the Grand Prince Hotel New Takanawa in Tokyo on the 10th, and “Aru Otoko” won the Best Picture Award.

The film also won eight awards, including the Best Director (Ishikawa Kei), Best Actor (Tsumabuki Satoshi), Best Supporting Actor (Kubota Masataka) and Best Supporting Actress (Ando Sakura).

“Aru Otoko” is a film adaptation of Hirano Keiichiro’s novel of the same name, winner of the 70th Yomiuri Literary Prize, directed by Ishikawa Kei of “Honeybee and Distant Thunder”. Lawyer Kido (Tsumabuki Satoshi) receives a strange request from a former client, Taniguchi Rie (Ando Sakura), to investigate the background of her deceased husband, Daisuke (Kubota Masataka). The husband she loved was a completely different person whose name and past she didn’t know. Kido, who is investigating the true identity of “a certain man,” is a human mystery in which he hears stories from various people and approaches the truth.
