The egg shortage in Japan has led to many restaurants trying to seek alternatives.

The egg shortage brought on by the avian influenza (Bird flu) has led to egg shortages worldwide. And for Japan, with many restaurants and bakeries depending on tamago (egg), it has no doubt affected business.

And now McDonald’s Japan has announced they need to suspend sales of their “Teritama” series. The “Chi Chi Teriyaki” will be sold starting on March 15th as an alternative.

The statement is as follows:

Due to the impact of the bird flu epidemic in Japan, the supply of eggs has become unstable.

The “Teritama” series of burgers and other products that use eggs, which are currently on sale for a limited time, use domestically produced eggs.

In response to this, “Cheese Cheese Teriyaki McBurger” will be available at McDonald’s stores nationwide until mid-April (planned) as a limited-time product where you can enjoy the taste of teriyaki from March 15 (Wednesday).
