The World Baseball Classic (WBC) audience ranking exceeded 40% but half of the girls in their teens and 20s are not interested in it.

The average household audience rating (video research survey, Kanto area) for the past four races exceeded 40% for all of the past four competitions, as if to show the high level of public interest in the WBC.

Furthermore, compared to the 2022 World Cup soccer match against Costa Rica, which had the highest viewership rating of 42.9%, baseball wins in all but the match against China.

FLASH conducted a street survey in regards to the interest in WBC among girls on the street in Omotesando.

When they talked to a woman who had just graduated from high school in March 2023, she answered , “What is WBC?” “Baseball?”

Next, a 20-year-old female college student said, “I know about WBC, but I haven’t watched it. I’m not interested!”.

Since then, “I haven’t watched it. I’m not very interested,” “I know the information, but I’m busy, so I haven’t watched it,” and “cold voices” continued.

Under such circumstances, the next female university student, Kiai (20 years old), who heard the story said, “My boyfriend likes baseball, so I watched it with him. And then more young women said they are watching it.

“I watched all 4 games. I wanted to see Ohtani-kun!” (Ai-san, 18 years old)

“I grew up in a baseball family, so of course I watch it! I definitely want Japan to win!” (Moe, 21 years old)

In a survey of nearly 20 people, the results were that about half of the women who watched the film and those who didn’t.
