Samurai Japan has won its third WBC (World Baseball Classic).
The final pitch was Ohtani striking out his California Angles teammate Mike Trout and Japan defeating the USA (who won the last WBC) with a score of 3-2.
The World Baseball Classic began in 2006 and is held every three years. Japan won in 2006 and 2009, Dominican Republic in 2013, the US in 2017, (2020 was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic) and Japan for 2023.
The next World Baseball Classic will be held in 2026.
