A sequel to "Shugo Chara!" was announced

It was announced on October 3rd that a new series of the manga “Shugo Chara!” (aka “Shugo Kyara!” and “My Guardian Characters” overseas) will begin serialization in Kodansha’s girls’ manga magazine “Nakayoshi” around the summer of 2024 and many people showing their joy of the announcement on social media.

On Shugo Chara’s Official X (formerly known as Twitter), “Scheduled to start around the summer of 2024 next year on’Nakayoshi’ We will keep you updated on the latest news on ‘Nakayoshi’. Look forward to it”. This will be the first new work in 14 years.

“Shugo Chara! ” is a PEACH-PIT manga that was serialized in Nakayoshi (Kodansha) for about 4 years starting in 2006. In it, Hinamori Amu, a 5th grade elementary school student who is worried about the gap between herself and her true self, creates a lantern which produces three colorful eggs which hatch into three guardians, Shugo Charas (Ran, Miki and Su) and they work to help Amu fulfill her dreams.

In 2010, the sequel “Shugo Chara! Encore!” was serialized and concluded in the same year.

It was made into a TV anime in 2007, a musical in 2009 and a new version will be released in 2021 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the series, and while it remains popular even after the series ended, a sequel has been announced.
