Is Johnny’s Jimusho considering suspending sales of CDs and DVDs?

Media are reporting that Johnny’s Entertainment is “considering” the recall, sale, and discontinuation of content such as songs, videos, and books that its own talent groups are involved with.

Following the press conference announced by Johnny’s Office regarding future company management, the KAI-YOU editorial department made an inquiry via email to the PR office of the office.

As a result, what became clear. Regarding the details, a public relations representative said, “As the matter is under consideration, we will refrain from responding at this time.” Among the questions asked, the above answers were given to the following questions: Have you had any discussions with record companies, publishers, etc. about recalling, selling, or discontinuing distribution of content such as music, videos, and books? This is a point that many fans are concerned about, and I believe that an explanation is required in terms of fulfilling our social responsibility”.

A Johnny’s PR representative responded with, “We are currently considering the matter, so we will refrain from responding at this time”.

In Japan, it is not surprising during an incident where an artist or group’s merchandise are pulled from shelves. But considering the enormity of Johnny’s Jimusho’s presence, in order to wipe out any existence of the “Johnny’s” name, will they go as far as pulling out all merchandise that has Johnny’s on it?

We know that the company will change its name to SMILE-UP on October 17th.  Does that mean that a lot of merchandise would need to be reprinted with the new logo?

We’ll have to wait and see.
