In response to the sexual assault scandal involving Johnny’s late founder Kitagawa Johnny, the Japan Composers Association on the 13th canceled the special music culture award given to Johnny at the 61st Japan Record Awards in 2019.

It has also been removed from the records on the association’s official website. The award was presented to honor Johnny, who passed away in July 2019, for his contributions to the music world.

In September, Guinness World Records removed Johnny’s record from its official website. In 2011, Johnny was recognized as a world record in the 12th edition of the Guinness Book of World Records for having “produced a total of 232 number one hit songs from 1974 to 2010”.

According to Guinness regulations, the record itself has not been deleted, but the fact that it has been deleted from the official website probably means that it cannot be made public.
