New “Gintama” anime series “Gintama 3 nen Z gumi Ginpachi Sensei” has been announced

It has been decided that the new anime “Gintama 3 nen Z gumi Ginpachi Sensei” (Gintama 3rd Year Class Z Ginpachi Sensei) will be broadcast on TV Tokyo in 2025.

The announcement was made during the Gintama Stage event of “Jump Festa 2024” (2nd day) held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba on the 17th.

It was also decided that an exhibition commemorating the 20th anniversary of the original work will be held!

“Gintama” is a manga that began serialization in “Weekly Shonen Jump” (Shueisha) in December 2003, and is set in the fictional Edo, a world ruled by aliens called “Tenjin”. A science fiction period comedy about Sakata Gintoki and the people around him.

The comic was completed in June 2019, and is a popular work that has sold over 55 million copies in total.The anime began broadcasting on TV Tokyo in April 2006, and has aired four seasons so far, and has been released in theaters.

“Gintama 3rd Year Class Z Ginpachi Sensei” is set in a school where high school teacher Sakata Ginpachi becomes the homeroom teacher for Gintama High School 3rd year Class Z, and the school has become a scary amusement park filled with students with strong characters. It is a comedy work that unfolds in the same period, and is a spin-off work.

NOTE: The title is a bit of a parody on the very popular drama “3 nen B gumi Kinpachi Sensei” which aired in Japan from 1979 to 2011 about a third year junior high school class in Japan that is taught by Sakamoto Kinpachi.
