Shogakukan releases statement on Ashihara Hinako’s death

On the 30th, Shogakukan issued a comment in response to an interview with Daily Sports following the sudden death of manga artist Ashihara Hinako, who serialized “Sexy Tanaka-san” in the company’s “Anekei Petit Comic”.

In response to an inquiry from Daily Sports, the Shogakukan Public Relations Office said, “We would like to express our respect and gratitude to Ashihara Hinako for her great achievements during her lifetime. We humbly pray for her soul to rest in peace”.

On the 28th, Ashihara’s acquaintance filed a missing person report with the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, stating that she could not be contacted, and on the 29th, she was found dead in Tochigi Prefecture. She was 50 years old. Ashihara’s manga “Sexy Tanaka-san” was made into a drama on Nippon Television in October last year.
