LINE MUSIC Corporation will announce the monthly rankings for May 2024 for its music streaming service “LINE MUSIC” (compatible with iPhone and Android), and will release a playlist of the 100 most popular songs. In addition, LINE MUSIC will use its unique logic to announce a Teen Trend Ranking of the songs that teens are currently paying the most attention to. (Counting period: May 1st to May 31st, 2024)

Creepy Nuts’ “Bling-Bang-Bang-Born” has maintained its No. 1 position in the monthly rankings for May 2024 for the fourth consecutive month. “Bling-Bang-Bang-Born” is still going strong, having recorded over 10 million weekly plays for 18 consecutive weeks in the “Oricon Weekly Streaming Rankings.” In June, there will be additional performances at Yokohama Arena for “Creepy Nuts ONE MAN TOUR 2024,” and the band is also scheduled to appear at numerous music festivals, so it looks like they’ll continue to attract attention.

In second place is Omoinotake’s “Ikuoku Kounen,” which has held the second place position for three consecutive months. Omoinotake is on a roll, with a performance in Seoul in addition to the Taipei performance planned for the solo tour “Omoinotake ONE MAN TOUR 2024,” which includes his first overseas performance. “Tsubomi,” the ending theme for the seventh season of the currently airing TV anime “My Hero Academia,” is also likely to be a hot topic.

Coming in at third place is Mrs. GREEN APPLE’s “Lilac,” which rose from seventh place last month to third place. The song has been gaining popularity due to its synchronization with the opening video of the TV anime “Wasurei Battery.” The digital release of their new song “Columbus” is scheduled for June 12th, so keep an eye on them as they continue to produce hit songs one after another.

Also in May, ILLIT’s “Magnetic” has maintained its fourth place position since last month, while Stardust’s seven-member dance and vocal unit, Chunyu wa Jibun ni Aru, ranked in at seventh with their new song “Mania.” The song has been gaining attention as the opening theme song for the drama DiVE “Secret Alliance,” in which member Nagano Ryodai is currently appearing, and it has ranked this month. Other songs that have made it into the TOP 100 include those that have been popular through tie-ups or on TikTok.

In the teen trend ranking, Mrs. GREEN APPLE’s “Lilac” took first place, beating Creepy Nuts’ “Bling-Bang-Bang-Born,” which had held the top spot for three consecutive months thanks to the popularity of the TV anime “Wakakyaku Battery.” Mrs. GREEN APPLE’s “Dear,” the theme song for the movie “Dear Family,” which will be released on June 14, also ranked in at 10th place.

Creepy Nuts’ “Bling-Bang-Bang-Born” in second place and Omoinotake’s “Ikuoku Kounen” in third place both dropped one rank from last month. With the teen rankings changing rapidly, it will be interesting to see how long they can maintain their high rankings.

Also in the May teen trend rankings, “You” by 808, a singer-songwriter from Ono City, Hyogo Prefecture, rose from 7th place last month to 4th place, while Nomurasaki’s “Hatsukoi Killer” ranked 6th and Da-iCE’s “I wonder” (theme song for the drama “Kuruli: Who Fell in Love with Me?”) ranked 9th. Also in the TOP 100, drama theme songs and anime tie-up songs continued to gain popularity and made the rankings, with MY FIRST STORY & HYDE’s “Mugen” (theme song for the TV anime “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” Hashira Training Arc) ranking 14th and SEKAI NO OWARI’s “Romantic” (theme song for the drama “9 Border”) ranking 40th.
