The pillows disband: “It’s been a happy 35 years”

The pillows announced today, February 1st, that they have disbanded.

The pillows announced through their official website that they have disbanded after their performance at KT Zepp Yokohama in Kanagawa on January 31st, ending their activities with Yamanaka Sawao (Vo, G), Manabe Yoshiaki (G) and Sato Shinichiro (Dr). They wrote a message of gratitude to their fans, saying, “Thanks to all of you, it has been a happy 35 years. I was very hesitant to use the strong word “disbanded”, but I hesitated to use words that would give hope that we will restart someday, so I chose this expression. I hope to see you at individual activities in the future”.

The pillows are a rock band formed in 1989, and made their major debut in 1991 with the single “Utaeba Ame ni Utaeba”. September 2024 marks the 35th anniversary of their formation.
