Former AKB48 member Shinoda Mariko has given birth to a baby girl.

Shinoda made the announcement on Instagram and Twitter.

〜ご報告〜 このような時期に私事で大変恐縮ではございますが、先日無事に元気な女の子を出産いたしました。 おかげさまで、母子ともに健康です。 新しい命の誕生に感謝して、家族で力をあわせて日々楽しく過ごしていきたいと思います。 まだまだ不慣れで至らぬ点もございますが、これからも温かく見守っていただけますよう、どうぞ宜しくお願いいたします。 最後に、このような状況が一刻も早く終息に向かうことを心から願っております。 篠田麻里子 .

Shinda writes that both she and her child are healthy and also ending with a coronavirus comment, “I sincerely hope that this situation will end as soon as possible”.

The baby is Shinoda’s first child.
