For five years, Shinoda Mariko has been the face of the Japan Coast Guard which wants people to know about “118” calls are for emergencies out in sea.

In Japan, calls for “110” are for incidents and accidents, and “119” for injuries and illnesses. “118” is only for emergencies out in sea.

The National Security Agency is an organization that protects the safety of the sea. If you witness a drowning accident or incident, the emergency number is 118. If you call this number at sea, you will be connected to the nearest coast guard office.
