Popular voice actor Sakurai Takahiro involved in another affair, according to Bunshun / Japanese netizens react!

Back in October, Sakura Takahiro (48) was featured in an article by Bunshun of having an affair with a woman, who was a broadcast writer for more than ten years.

Sakurai and his agency issued an apology statement at that time.

The voice actor is known for his voice of Cloud Strife character originally from the “Final Fantasy VII” series, Lan Di from the “Shenmue” series, Dragon Shiryu from the “Saint Seiya” series and many more video game series. While voicing many popular characters in anime such as Kururugi Suzaku (Code Geass), Osomatsu (Osomatsu-san), Kishibe Rohan (Jojo series) and Tomioka Giyu (Kimetsu no Yaiba).

But now it seems that there is another woman is accusing Sakurai and this time it’s a woman who works in the animation industry who says she has been in a relationship with Sakurai from 2006-2021 according to Bunshun.

This is a translated excerpt from the article:

The woman who will be named as “B-ko” said, “I would like to apologize from the bottom of my heart for causing great trouble to the woman in the article, but I was told, ‘Only the woman who was reported? What about me?’ It’s a sentence that didn’t exist in the first place for someone who doesn’t exist. It was really sad.  So, I contacted Sakurai-san to explain what had happened so far and ask for an apology. But I couldn’t feel the sincerity from that response at all…”.

To show legitimacy, she also provided photos to Bunshun with her and Sakurai and copies of messages they exchanged from 2009 through 2020.  Photos showing the two together at Disneyland, Sakurai holding her in bed and more.

B-ko met Sakurai in 2005. She says it all started with work.

“At the time, Mr. Sakurai was already a super-popular voice actor. His voice and acting were wonderful, and he was in charge of many good roles. Seeing him enthusiastically working on his work up close, I began to feel more than I admired.  So I sent him a congratulatory letter on his 31st birthday. I added my e-mail address to the letter, so I received a thank you message there. I never thought I would be treated like that, so I remember jumping for joy. That’s how I started to keep in touch.  Every day I exchange emails with Sakurai, whom I admire”.

It was a dream come true for Ms. B. She said that in 2006, after exchanging emails for about a year, the flow of the conversation led to the two going out to eat.

“I never thought that the day would come when I would go on a date with Sakurai-san… I enjoyed talking to him while drinking alcohol for about two hours at a Western-style bar in Shibuya. Partly because I was so excited, I rushed to tell him, ‘I don’t want to go home yet’.”

Sakurai listened to Ms. B’s intentions and invited her to a luxury hotel in Shibuya. And that night, the two had a physical relationship. After finishing things, the two of us fell asleep.

“When I woke up in the morning, he kissed me all over my face. I felt more love than last night, and I was very happy. When we parted, he said, ‘See you later’. I thought, ‘I don’t care if it’s just a memory'”.

Sometimes we met once a week, sometimes once a month, but we met repeatedly according to Sakurai’s busy schedule. We met in Shibuya, had a meal, and then went to the hotel, which was our usual date.

The first night was at a luxury hotel, but after that, he used more and more love hotels because he said, “If you go to a normal hotel, you can’t make excuses when you meet someone related to you”.  It is said that when she occasionally stayed at a regular hotel, Sakurai made sure to include her father’s name in the book when she checked in.

The relationship between the two started to become distant when she heard a rumor that he was dating a voice actress (“Ms. X” will be used).  And when they were at a hotel, she looked at his phone and saw Ms. X’s name in a folder of his smartphone.  She saw the e-mails and she called him Takahiro and found a list of names of women in addition to Ms. X on this phone.  She wanted to question him about the other women but she felt uneasy about it.

But because of that, she kept her distance from Sakurai because no matter if she was sleeping or awake, she was always worried about the situation.

The two went to Disney Sea and stayed at MiraCosta and then also went to Disneyland the next day.

Because of her suspicions, she felt she needed to break up with him and said, “I thought that if I met him, I would never be able to leave him, so I cried and sent him a farewell email. Mr. Sakurai strongly stopped me, but I couldn’t bear any more painful feelings. After that, it was my limit. I have stopped contacting you”.

Six years later, B-ko got a job at a company in Tokyo and was living a new life until she met Sakurai again in August 2016.  He contacted her again and said, “I haven’t seen you in a long time.  How have you been?”.

In April 2017, the two went out to eat.

“We had a physical relationship from the beginning, so from that day onwards we would meet again at the hotel. Before, we would only meet in Shibuya, but from around this time, we started going to love hotels in Ebisu. The thing was that he stopped using contraceptives at all during the act.  But I couldn’t say ‘put it on’.At that time, I was very busy with work and I was in a mess. He was the only person I could open up and talk to”.

In 2019, he gave her a custom-made pinky ring for her birthday.

B-ko said, “Even if we can’t reach the goal of getting married, I thought it would be great if we could find the best way for us to support each other and be close to each other”.

But she noticed a difference in him around February 2018, he was demanding obscene sexual acts from B-ko such as shaving all of her pubic hair, sending photos of her lower body and breasts.

Even after he got married, he was requesting more photos from her and she started to feel unwell as he treated her like a sexual outlet.  B-ko said, “I suffered from insomnia and started going to a psychiatrist. What’s more, the hair on the right side of my head fell out”.

On June 13, 2021, on Sakurai’s 47th birthday, he wrote her a goodbye e-mail.

And by September 23, 2022, she saw the news that he got married.  She didn’t want to cause problems for them and kept to herself.

By October 2022, she saw the affair that Sakurai had with another woman reported on Bunshun.  She immediately sent an e-mail to him on October 27th to explain what was going on.

Sakurai replied, “I’m sorry for forcing you to feel painful and sad. I took advantage of your favor and did something like trampling on your feelings. I’m sorry that I made you sad like this, even though you said you liked me and have happy memories. I apologize for betraying you. really sorry”.

“Does this mean that you think that this apology will be enough for 15 years with me …?”,  The apology announced by Mr. Sakurai’s office said, ‘I will sincerely face the person who has been reported. I was like, “Well, what about me?   Is this all there is because it hasn’t been reported?’ I felt like my whole existence hadn’t happened.  So, I told him that I wanted him to meet me in person and explain, and that I wanted him to show me the specific method of ‘apology” in the email”.

However, there was no explanation from Sakurai himself, and on November 2, 2022, she received an email from a person who claimed to be his wife.

“I’m Sakurai’s wife. Currently, Sakurai cannot contact you directly, so I will contact you through a lawyer. please wait a little bit”.

Ten days later, I got a reply from Sakurai’s lawyer.

“The lawyer told me that I had asked him to show me a specific method of apology, and said, ‘But are you interpreting it differently?’, I received an e-mail that seemed to take offense.  I wanted Mr. Sakurai to explain the process up until this point, and to offer a sincere apology. I don’t know if that will settle my feelings, but I’ll start with that. However, I thought that it would be impossible to talk with people anymore, so I replied, ‘I want you to pay as an apology fee'”.’

From there, settlement negotiations began between B-ko and the lawyer of the other party. She told her lawyer about the pain she had suffered, and she requested that she offer an amount corresponding to this. She then got a reply from her lawyer saying, “I would like to make a proposal to pay 1 million yen as an apology to you”.

However, for B-ko, who devoted 15 years to Sakurai, 1 million yen (under $8,000 US)  was not an acceptable amount.

From the legal discussions, B-ko wanted to settle the case for 10 million yen (under $80,000), as the two sides argued what was fair.  But then she received the following message.

“When I confirmed with Takahiro Sakurai about the incident involving B-ko, she requested a sincere response with strong words and demanded 10 million yen, so there is a possibility that it will be turned into a criminal case. Since this is a case, we cannot answer this matter”.

In other words, if they settle on 1 million yen, they can draft an agreement.  If she demands the 10 million yen, they will consider legal measures against her because they see her demands as a form of blackmail.

Needless to say, B-ko’s spirit was shattered by reading this message.
