The AKB48G (AKB48, STU48, NMB48, SKE48, HKT48 and NGT48) will be holding an air handshake event, as Japan continues to refrain from crowding or gatherings due to the spread of the coronavirus infection.
AKB48G’s handshake events have been postponed since February 1st and the idols have been waiting for a reunion with their fans.
“Air handshake” (エア握手, Air Akushu) is a video of handshake/conversations from a fan’s perspective.
An “Air handshake” video shot by the members themselves will be distributed on each group’s official Twitter titled “Home Handshake Meeting”(おうちで握手会, Ouchi de Akushu-kai).
The management wrote in their announcement statement, “Handshake events have been postponed or canceled and we can’t meet the fans at this time. So, we will create the atmosphere of a handshake event”.
The schedule is May 4-5 for AKB48 and STU48, NMB48 is May 5-6, SKE48 is May 7-8 and HKT48 is May 9th and 10th. NGT48 is on May 10th.
